Blog, Blog, Blog

So, I've entered the wide world of blogging. On one hand, it's very intriguing. I can see how people might spend hours of every day on the computer. It's addicting! My eyes are starting to go a little fuzzy myself. There are quite a few educational blogs out there, but how to find ones that you want to read? If someone you know and trust sends you to them, great! But otherwise.... I"m not sure how you find ones that are worthwhile. I find the blog search sites limiting, although I may not be searching to the best of their capability. For example, when searching for other blogs about coaching cheerleading, I couldn't find any! Surely, someone else out there had to be interested in blogging about coaching..... Or perhaps I'm weirder than I thought. : )
Any ideas?

Introduction

Hello! This is my first blog and my first entry on a blog - yea! You can read my profile to learn more about me and my cheerleading experience. I will be coaching a 7th and 8th grade youth squad for the football season this Fall. In the winter and spring, I will be coaching a youth rec competition squad - probably of 5 and 6-year-olds. So if all goes as planned, I will be coaching both ends of the youth cheer spectrum!

Coaching cheerleading over the last several years has been a richly rewarding experience. There is nothing like the excitement of cheering on a football team to a last-minute victory, watching stunts performed to perfection, or finishing a competition routine and hearing the crowd roar.

For those of us who used to be cheerleaders, coaching is really a fun way to continue to be a part of the sport (yes - I said sport!). Unlike many other sports (softball, soccer, karate), it is difficult to remain an active participant into adulthood. However, I am finding coaching just as (if not more) rewarding than cheering myself. : )

Cheers to you!
